As you all have probably figured out, I'm a big Doug & Carol fan. When I read the lyrics to this song, I thought about "The Storm Part II" where Doug left. *shrugs* So that's what this is. The following sets of lyrics are what inspired me most.

Doug lay in his bed in Seattle, wide awake at two a.m. He rolled over, tossing his arm up over his head. He sighed and stared into the darkness. All he could think about was her. Still. After all these months. He wanted to be there when the twins were born. But he knew that if he went back, she wouldn’t accept it. She would think he was there for the babies.
He thought back to the conversation they had in the hallway of the hospital before he had left. So many things had been said, yet so many things hadn't been said. And Doug wondered if he would be paying for his mistakes forever.
