Susan was the only true friend Abby had ever really had. Nobody else had ever stuck by her long enough, and nobody had ever tried to help her, not women anyway. Men had a hard time adjusting to Abby's life, and none of them had ever really succeeded. Luka and Carter certainly hadn't. They had tried to help her, but they couldn't. Susan could.
Susan listened, she understood. She was a woman.
Abby felt like Susan was the sister she never had. Abby had been close to her brother, but he was a man, after all, and he was bipolar, after all. But Abby would never tell Susan that she loved her, she didn't tell many people that at all.
