"Doug..I look like an elephant." Carol complained. Doug wraps his arms around her growing stomach as they look in the mirror.
"Carol..you are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen." He says.
"Doug..I'm only 4 months pregnant and I look 6. I am really fat." Carol says. He kisses her neck.
"No you're not. You're pregnant and beautiful." Doug says. She sighs and leans against him.
"Well..I guess you're the only person I need to make an impression on and if you say so, then it's okay I suppose." She says. He chuckles.
"Yeah. That's right. Besides..think of it this way, today we get to finally see our baby." Doug says. Her face brightens as her whole body seems to light up. She turns in his arms and holds him as close as she can, considering her stomach.
"You know just what to say and when." Carol says. He smiles.
"The Ross charm." Doug says. Carol giggles.
"Well you better not be charming anyone else." Carol says.
"Never. Only you." He says. She smiles and kisses him.
"I love you." She whispers. He chuckles.
"I love you more. Come on, let's go." Doug says, pulling away from her, but still holding her hand.

Doug and Carol sat in an exam room later that afternoon, waiting for Dr. MacLucas. Carol was dressed in a gown and laying on the table when Dr. MacLucas came into the room. She looked at Carol's stomach and then back up to Carol.
"Carol..you're four months along right?" Dr. MacLucas asks. Carol gives her a puzzled look.
"Uh huh...why?" Carol asks.
"Just making sure." Dr. MacLucas says. She looks down at the chart. Carol looks at Doug. They are both puzzled. He just squeezes her hand and smiles reassuringly. "Okay, Carol. Have you been having any complications?"
"Nope. I'm not having morning sickness anymore. I just feel fat." Carol says. Dr. MacLucas smiles.
"That's normal. Almost every woman that comes in here for her first pregnancy says that." Dr. MacLucas. Carol smiles and Doug rubs his thumb across hers. "Okay..do you have any questions?" Dr. MacLucas asks.
"Yes. Actually, I do." Carol says. Doug turns his attention to Carol, not knowing she had a question.
"Hmm?" Dr. MacLucas asks.
"Do I look larger then four months? I don't know if I'm exaggerating or if I really do look six months." Carol says.
"Well..I'd say maybe you are a little bigger then I expected, but that's nothing to worry about. Are you sure that you had your period when you said you did, before you knew you were pregnant?" Dr. MacLucas asks.
"I'm positive because I really wanted this baby, so I was watching my period like a hawk." Carol says. Dr. MacLucas nods.
"I might know why you're bigger but it's probably just nothing. I should probably do an ultrasound, see if there's anything I can find." She says. Carol nods as she puts gel on Carol's belly. "I don't know if we will be able to tell, but if we can, would you like to know your baby's sex? It's most likely we won't be able to tell right now, though." She says. Carol shakes her head.
"We already talked about this. We want to be surprised." Carol says. Dr. MacLucas nods.
"Okay. Alright, here we go." She says. The picture comes up onto the screen and in just a few seconds, Dr. MacLucas nods. "I thought as much." Dr. MacLucas says. Doug's mouth drops open as he realizes what he sees
"Carol.....there's..I see...there's two there." Doug says, pointing. Carol gasps.
"Twins?" She asks. Dr. MacLucas nods.
"Looks like it to me." She says.
"So that's why I'm so big?" Carol asks.
"Yes. I figured that's what had happened." Dr. MacLucas says.
"Oh God." Doug says and gasps. Dr. MacLucas looks at him and Carol looks up at Doug.
"Doug, are you alright?" Carol asks.
"Can I..can I see that, please?" Doug asks, referring to the paddle in Dr. MacLucas' hands.
"Sure." Dr. MacLucas says, giving Doug a puzzled look. He lets go of Carol and takes the paddle into his hands. He moves it around a little and then stops. Carol and Dr. MacLucas gasp.
"There's another." Doug says simply. Carol's eyes are wide.
"Triplets?" She squeaks. Dr. MacLucas takes the paddle from Doug and nods.
"Yup." She says. Doug shakes his head in wonder.
"I guess when we said we were trying...we meant it!" Doug says. Carol nods, staring at the screen.
"Well..I'll give you a video of it and you can show all your friends. To me, it looks like you're having three, un-identical babies. They all are in separate sacs." Dr. MacLucas says. Carol and Doug nod.
"Unbelievable." Doug whispers. Dr. MacLucas chuckles.
"You'll be in denial for a while. So..I need you to come back in three weeks. We'll gradually work down to once a week. Also, I think after about the sixth months you should stop working and depending how it looks after that, you might be bed ridden for the last two months." Dr. MacLucas says.
"That's forever!" Carol says.
"Yeah..well it's either that and three healthy babies or work and possibly not three babies at all." Dr. MacLucas says.
"Okay, okay. I'll do it." Carol says. Dr. MacLucas nods, satisfied.
"I'll be back in, in a few minutes." Dr. MacLucas says and leaves. Doug turns to Carol.
"Triplets?" He asks. Carol giggles.
"God, Doug. We're going to have to get us fixed." She says. He chuckles.
"I never do anything without grabbing as much attention as possible, huh?" Doug asks. She smiles.
"I guess not!" She says. He smiles.
"So..how do you feel about this?" He asks.
"I'm in denial like she says..but to tell you the truth...I'm amazingly happy." She says. He grins.
"Me too." He says and kisses her. They smile as they part and he places his hands on her stomach.

Carol and Doug walk into work, holding hands. In her other hand, Carol carried the tape. They walked up to the desk.
"Ahem!" Doug says loudly. Mark, Lydia, Randi, and Kerry all look up from their positions at the desk. "Can we have your attention?" Doug asks.
"Doug, what do you want?" Kerry asks, exasperated to be taken from her work.
"We have to make an announcement. It's extremely important and we need everyone that's available to go to the lounge." Doug says.
"I'll go gather up as many people as possible." Mark says. Randi picks up the intercom.
"Any staff members that aren't busy or aren't doing anything important, please go to the lounge, we need to have an emergency meeting." Randi says. Doug chuckles.
"Great job." He says. She smiles and Kerry rolls her eyes.
"We'll be in the lounge, please make sure everyone gets there." Doug says, pulling Carol into the lounge. She hits his arm playfully. "What?" He asks innocently. She rolls her eyes. She takes the tape out of it's box and pops it into the VCR. He takes the VCR remote and he chuckles. She looks at him funny.
"What are you doing, Doug?" She asks.
"Teasing them." He says and laughs. Just then the door opens. Carter walks in.
"Hey Carter." Carol says.
"Hey guys." Carter answers. They wait a few more minutes until they think that they have everybody.
"Okay everyone. Carol and I went to an OB appointment today and we got our first ultrasound. We thought we would share it with all of you." Doug says. He steps off the side, standing by Carol and she smiles at him. He chuckles and presses play. The picture of the first two sacs shows up on the screen. Mark gasps, followed by many other gasps. Doug pauses it.
"Twins?" Kerry asks.
"Figures." Mark mutters, with a small chuckle.
"Way to go Dr. Ross!" Malik says. Everyone laughs. Congratulations ring out.
"But!" Doug shouts. Everyone quiets down. He raises his eyebrows. "The best is yet to come." He says. Carol slaps his arm playfully and he presses play. The screen moves around a little bit more, coming to the part where Doug discovers the third baby.
"Jesus!" Mark says.
"Another one?" Chuny says.
"Triplets?" Kerry says. Carter laughs.
"You never do anything half way do you?" Carter asks.
"Apparently three times as much." Everyone laughs. Doug chuckles as everyone stares at the screen. Doug finally presses stop.
"Well congrats!" Haleh says.
"Yeah!" Everyone says, giving their congratulations.
